Scriviamo per informare urgentemente di una grave ondata di repressione contro attivisti socialisti, giornalisti, sindacali, avvocati e ambientalisti in Turchia, e per chiamare alla solidarietà.
Nei giorni scorsi, in tutta la Turchia sono state arrestate 96 persone col pretesto di "operazioni antiterrorismo". Il governo Erdoğan utilizza ancora una volta la legislazione antiterrorismo per distruggere le strutture della resistenza e mettere a tacere ogni forma di opposizione. Le unità antiterrorismo hanno fatto irruzione in case e uffici, li hanno saccheggiati, hanno distrutto beni e confiscato tutti i dispositivi elettronici. Persino letteratura politica, tra cui il Manifesto del Partito Comunista, è stato sequestrata come "prova".
Tra i locali presi di mira gli uffici dell'agenzia di stampa Etha e dell'associazione culturale Beksav. Questa ondata di repressione è chiaramente rivolta contro le organizzazioni di sinistra e socialiste. Tra i compagni arrestati figurano membri e rappresentanti di spicco del Partito Socialista degli Oppressi (ESP), dei Consigli Socialisti delle Donne (SKM) e della Federazione delle Associazioni Giovanili Socialiste (SGDF), tra gli altri il co-presidente dell'ESP, Murat Çepni, la portavoce generale del SKM Tanya Kara e il co-presidente della SGDF Berfin Polat.

lavoratori portuali LİMTER İş, parte della Confederazione dei Sindacati Rivoluzionari (DISK). Sono stati arrestati anche membri dell'organizzazione ambientalista Polen Ekoloji.Secondo l'agenzia di stampa di Stato turca, gli arresti avrebbero come bersaglio il Partito Comunista Marxista-Leninista (MLKP). In, Le procure di 22 province hanno ordinato arresti di persone accusate di aver partecipato a celebrazioni del 30° anniversario dell'MLKP. Le note riportano che questi erano sotto stretta sorveglianza già dal 24 febbraio 2025.
Non è la prima ondata di repressione contro queste organizzazioni, ma la sua portata segna una nuova escalation. Le autorità parlano ora di 110 sospettati, il che significa che sono probabili ulteriori arresti.
Nelle ultime settimane, molte delle organizzazioni colpite sono state attivamente coinvolte in azioni di resistenza e solidarietà per il Rojava, tra cui proteste a Suruç (Pirsûs). Questa città è segnata dalla memoria dell'attacco dell'ISIS del 2015, con la complicità delle autorità turche, in cui 33 giovani dell'SGDF furono assassinati mentre si preparavano a contribuire alla ricostruzione di Kobanê.
Pochi giorni prima di questa ondata di arresti, un tribunale di Istanbul ha condannato dieci avvocati curdi e altre 18 persone a pene fino a 11 anni e 3 mesi per aver difeso i diritti e l'assistenza medica dei prigionieri, in maggioranza curdi. Allo stesso tempo, i socialisti giocano un ruolo chiave nell'organizzazione delle grandi proteste anti-NATO previste per il 7 e l'8 luglio ad Ankara, il che fornisce un’ulteriore motivazione politica di questa ondata repressiva.
Nonostante gli attacchi, i giovani socialisti dichiarano:
"Non un solo passo indietro. Continueremo a rafforzare la lotta dei giovani per l'uguaglianza e la libertà. Nonostante tutti gli attacchi, riaffermiamo: SGDF è speranza, e la speranza rimane salda".

We are writing to urgently inform you about a major wave of repression against socialists, journalists, trade unionists, lawyers, and environmental activists in Turkey, and to call for your solidarity.
Over the past days, 96 people have been arrested across Turkey under the pretext of so-called “anti-terror operations.” The Erdoğan government is once again using anti-terror legislation to smash resistance structures and silence all forms of opposition. Anti-terror units stormed homes and offices, ransacked them, destroyed property, and confiscated all electronic devices. Even political literature, including The Communist Manifesto, has reportedly been taken as “evidence.”
Among the targeted premises were the offices of the Etha news agency and the Beksav cultural association. This wave of repression is clearly directed at left-wing and socialist organizations. Arrested comrades include members and leading representatives of the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP), the Socialist Women’s Councils (SKM), and the Federation of Socialist Youth Associations (SGDF), among them ESP co-chair Murat Çepni, SKM general spokesperson Tanya Kara, and SGDF co-chair Berfin Polat.
In addition, the fascist Turkish government arrested the chairperson and general secretary of the port workers’ union LİMTER İş, which is part of the Confederation of Revolutionary Trade Unions (DISK). Members of the environmental organization Polen Ekoloji were also taken into custody.
According to Turkey’s state news agency, the arrests allegedly target the Marxist-Leninist Communist Party (MLKP). In 22 provinces, public prosecutors ordered arrests of people accused of participating in events marking the MLKP’s 30th anniversary. Reports indicate that those affected had already been under close surveillance since February 24, 2025.
This is not the first wave of repression against these organizations, but its scale marks a new escalation. Authorities are now speaking of 110 suspects, meaning further arrests are likely.
In recent weeks, many of the targeted organizations were actively involved in resistance and solidarity actions for Rojava, including protests in Suruç (Pirsûs). This town is marked by the memory of the 2015 ISIS attack — carried out with the complicity of Turkish authorities — in which 33 SGDF youth were murdered while preparing to help rebuild Kobanê.
Just days before this arrest wave, an Istanbul court sentenced ten Kurdish lawyers and 18 others to prison terms of up to 11 years and 3 months for defending the rights and medical care of predominantly Kurdish prisoners. At the same time, socialists have played a key role in organizing large-scale anti-NATO protests planned for July 7–8 in Ankara, which further explains the political motivation behind this repression.
Despite all attacks, the socialist youth declare:
“We will not take a single step back. We will continue to strengthen the youth’s struggle for equality and freedom. Despite all attacks, we reaffirm: SGDF is hope — and hope stands firm.”
