Over 100 U.S. cities protest against U.S. strikes on Venezuela

NEW YORK, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- Hundreds of people took to the streets of Manhattan on Saturday to protest against the U.S. military operation that led to the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

The march was part of nationwide "No war on Venezuela" demonstrations in more than 100 U.S. cities, including Washington, Boston, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Chicago and Miami.

Protesters gathered in Times Square, waving signs that read "Hands off Venezuela," "U.S. out of Caribbean," "No war for Venezuelan oil," and "Defend Venezuela against U.S. imperialism." Chants of "Defend Venezuela, Free Maduro" echoed through the crowd.

"This war is not about drugs, it is about Venezuela's oil," said Karen, a middle-aged New Yorker in the march.

"How do you have the right to step in Venezuela, to attack Venezuela?" she said. "It feels like we act as criminals."

"We are here to say that this is an unjust action," she added.

Hassan, a college student from Pakistan, said U.S.-led government change efforts abroad were not new, "but at least it wore a mask, like in the name of restoring democracy in the Middle East."

"However, today it takes the mask off," Hassan said. "This is quite nakedly about oil and natural resources."

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Saturday that his country has struck Venezuela and captured its President Maduro, who was flown out of the country along with his wife.

Trump said that the United States will "run" Venezuela until "a safe, proper and judicious transition."

"This is not gonna happen," one speaker at the Times Square rally said in response. "It's arrogance."

"Listen to what Trump said today when he said, 'we want all your oil, all your land, all your assets, turn it over to us,'" the speaker added.

"The Venezuelan people will not accept the United States running their country or stealing their oil, gas, gold, or any resources. There will be strong resistance," she said. "No, that age is over."

One of the organizers, Answer Coalition, which stands for Act Now to Stop War and End Racism, condemned the latest U.S. bombing of Caracas and the capture of Maduro, calling on Americans to "say no to another endless war."

"A U.S. war would cause death and destruction to the people of Venezuela. The war machine consumes an unimaginable amount of our tax dollars while working families struggle to make ends meet," the anti-war group said in a statement. "The people need to take to the streets and say no to Trump's war on Venezuela!" ■

In an outrageous, unprecedented and fascist gangster press conference, Trump declared that the U.S. is "going to run" the sovereign nation of Venezuela. This came hours after the U.S. sent their military in the dark of night to kidnap the Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro. The U.S. turned the power off in parts of Venezuela's capital city, Caracas, and bombed two military bases, a naval port and an airport.

The criminal fascist thug Donald Trump is claiming the "right" to take over an independent country of 30 million people—maybe for years! He said that "for a period of time, the people that are standing right behind me. We're going to be running it." The people standing behind him were the fascist yes-men, Marco Rubio, General Dan Caine and dark ages Christian fascist nutcase Pete Hegseth.

Three points on why this is happening, and what the people in the U.S. must urgently understand and do to stop this:

1. In an illegal and illegitimate violation of international law and the sovereignty of the Venezuelan people, the fascist Trump said the U.S. would be directly controlling Venezuela, with U.S. oil companies seizing control of Venezuela's vast natural resources:

As everyone knows, the oil business in Venezuela has been a bust, a total bust for a long period of time. They were pumping almost nothing by comparison to what they could have been pumping and what could have taken place. We're going to have our very large United States oil companies, the biggest anywhere in the world, go in, spend billions of dollars, fix the badly broken infrastructure, the oil infrastructure, and start making money for the country. 

Who the fuck is the U.S. to be invading a foreign country because they're not "exploiting their own oil" in the way Trump see fit?! This is the American gangsters trying to violently enforce the idea that the U.S. has the "right" to wage wars, murder civilians, and violate international law if it sees it is in their imperialist interests. They are doing so based on easily refutable lies of drug smuggling or stealing "America's oil"—oil that just happens to be under Venezuelan soil! As for the idea that “this is our [that is, the U.S.’s] oil,” go here for an understanding of gangsterish way that the U.S. came to dominate the oil industry in Venezuela, what that has meant for the people of Venezuela, and why in fact the U.S. has NO legitimate claim on this oil.

In addition to violating international law, Trump is violating U.S. law by waging a war without congressional oversight! They are trying to legitimize war crimes because "we say they're legal." And they've been doing this for months—killing over 100 civilians in international waters with no due process!

The fascist regime is also moving to crush all protest and dissent against it inside the U.S., labeling anti-fascists as “domestic terrorists.” Everyone should stay attuned and be ready to oppose further leaps in repression, now in the context of war.

This invasion of Venezuela poses an extreme danger to the people of Venezuela, Latin American and the people of the world. And it poses a sharp moral and political challenge to those who hate this but are standing aside: Are you alright living in—and benefiting from—a world where the U.S. can openly invade other countries because the U.S. imperialists see it in their interests? Are you alright living in—again, and benefiting from—a world where the U.S. can send its military to murder people and kidnap people who stand in their way?

If not, then don't you have an urgent and special responsibility to stand up against these bloody war crimes being committed in our name?! 

2. While Trump focused on illegally and blatantly seizing Venezuela's natural resources, this invasion is about much more than "oil profits." This is about qualitatively stepped-up imperialist domination and control of an entire continent at a time when the U.S. is contending for global domination with its main imperialist rival, China. Especially now with the U.S. seizing control of resources that China relies on, this contention holds extreme danger for the people of the region and could spiral out into nuclear war. 

For over 100 years, the U.S. has dominated Latin America through invasions, coups, torture and backing extremely repressive puppet government: 

China has over the past decade significantly upped its trade, investment and aid in Latin America. It has funded infrastructure projects including roads, telecommunication networks, etc. The U.S. now intends to undermine, limit and roll this back. As the NSS contends, "The United States must be preeminent in the Western Hemisphere as a condition of our security and prosperity."

This fascist section of the imperialist ruling class feels the need to shore up the entire Western Hemisphere—including Canada and Greenland—as the U.S.'s "neighborhood" where they have total military and economic control. At this press conference, Trump and Rubio openly threatened Cuba and Colombia to fall in line, or else.

These fascists are attempting to deal with what they see as existential problems in maintaining the U.S. as top dog in a world of tremendous upheaval and volatility. This is part of the larger fascist program they see as their last chance to "rescue their system": rule through open violence and terror, the crushing of dissent and gutting of the rule of law, unleashing vengeful white supremacy, ethnic cleansing of immigrants, the patriarchal enslavement of women, purging of LGBT people from public life—wrapped together with Christian fascist lunacy and America-first belligerence.

These extreme moves have created sharp divides within the dominant ruling institutions of this system and throughout society, with many feeling that what the Trump regime is doing will destroy the U.S. and its standing in the world. But while they oppose this, those forces need to be compelled and enabled to drive this regime from power—through the sustained nonviolent protest of millions, uniting all who can be united behind the demand, The Trump Fascist Regime Must Go NOW!

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), in commemorating its 57th anniversary on December 26, 2025, stated that the rapid acceleration of the crisis of the semicolonial and semifeudal system in the Philippines in 2025 and the prolonged stagnation of the global capitalist system open up many great opportunities for advancing the cause of the working class and all oppressed classes for liberation. The Central Committee of the CPP also reported that the rectification movement, as it enters its third year, has achieved meaningful advances in the ideological, political and organizational fields. Il Venezuela, il giorno dopo il rapimento del suo legittimo presidente eletto, Nicolàs Maduro, prova ad andare avanti come un ordine democratico e costituzionale deve fare.

La Corte Suprema di Giustizia, riunita d’urgenza, ha ordinato alla vicepresidente esecutiva Delcy Rodríguez di assumere ed esercitare “in qualità di incaricata” i poteri, i doveri e le facoltà inerenti alla carica di presidente della Repubblica, al fine di garantire la continuità amministrativa e la difesa integrale della nazione.

Nel leggere la decisione della Camera Costituzionale, la sua presidente, Tania D’Amelio Cardiet, ha elencato le argomentazioni oggettive e giuridiche che hanno portato alla decisione, a seguito dell’aggressione militare straniera del 3 gennaio 2026, “di cui è stata oggetto la Repubblica Bolivariana del Venezuela e che aveva come obiettivo il sequestro del presidente costituzionale Nicolás Maduro Moro”.

pc 4 gennaio - MILANO IN PIAZZA: DALLA PALESTINA AL VENEZUELA

 

Ieri 200 solidali hanno manifestato in solidarietà agli arrestati dell'API in piazza Scala ribadendo l'illecito arresto di Hannoun, Dawoud, Yasser, Kalil e gli altri, da parte del governo fascista Meloni per mezzo di una montatura giudiziaria-poliziesca. Rispedendo al mittente l'attacco repressivo alla solidarietà con la Palestina, di cui questo governo ha paura e che come denunciato ieri da un compagno dell'API è continuata anche in mattinata, che ha visto una squadretta della digos prelevare il giovane palestinese e trattenerlo in questura per 4 ore, con l'obiettivo di farlo desistere dalla sua militanza.

Dopo aver ricordato gli appuntamenti di solidarietà al carcere di San Vittore per far sentire forte la vicinanza e il sostegno a Dawoud, dopo il presidio a Genova per Hannoun e a Monza per Yasser, il presidio si è mosso in corteo per raggiungere il consolato americano e denunciare l'azione criminale e banditesca del criminale fascio/imperialista Trump contro il popolo venezuelano e l'illegittimo arresto di Maduro.

Davanti al consolato si è gridato forte e chiaro la necessità dell'unità dei popoli oppressi contro il fascismo-imperialismo-sionismo. La manifestazione si è conclusa ricordando i prossimi appuntamenti: l'assemblea generale di oggi al cs Vittoria per organizzare la manifestazione del 10 gennaio e il presidio di mercoledì 7 gennaio al carcere di San Vittore.

pc 4 gennaio - Presidio a Ravenna per Hannoun e dalla parte del Venezuela aggredito dal fascio imperialista Trump

Avevamo preparato un sit-in in piazza del popolo a Ravenna per rivendicare la liberazione di Hannoun (con la parola d'ordine "siamo tutti Hannoun") e degli altri attivisti solidali con il popolo palestinese arrestati dalla Procura di Genova perché impegnati nel sostegno materiale e negli aiuti verso il popolo di Gaza, per denunciare la complicità del governo italiano con il governo dei criminali nazisionisti israeliani che ha portato non solo a questi arresti assieme all'attacco repressivo del movimento e di singoli impegnati a fianco del popolo palestinese ma anche alle collaborazioni economiche-politiche-accademiche tra istituzioni italiane ed israeliane e la condivisione da parte del governo Meloni del genocidio nazisionista in Palestina, complicità che continuerà nei profitti della ricostruzione, a Gaza come in Ucraina, complicità, assieme a tutto il sistema imperialista mondiale, che ha permesso a Netanyhau di commettere il genocidio con una violenza ed orrore che ha superato quello nazista.

Ma l'orrore sembra senza fine di questo sistema: il fascio-imperialista Trump oggi ha bombardato il Venezuela e arrestato il suo legittimo presidente, Maduro. Un altra tappa della guerra interimperialista verso una nuova carneficina mondiale. Il nostro governo è parte di un'alleanza imperialista di governi fascisti, da Trump ad Orban a Modi a Milei che ci sta trascinando in guerra perché rappresenta il complesso militar industriale e tutta la sua politica porta avanti il suo odio verso i proletari e le masse, con il riarmo, la politica economica, la propaganda fascista, nazionalista, guerrafondaia, la repressione. 

Mobilitiamoci contro questa aggressione al Venezuela, un vero e proprio salto di qualità dell'imperialismo Usa contro i popoli per la rapina delle risorse energetiche, delle materie prime, e che con Trump si permette di violare il diritto internazionale. Nelle mobilitazioni per la Palestina continuiamo a portare la solidarietà al popolo venezuelano e fare la nostra parte nella lotta all'imperialismo Usa a guida Trump, dalla parte delle resistenze dei popoli e delle guerre popolari.

Ora su Maduro però bisogna fare chiarezza tra le nostre fila: le posizioni di chi come Potere al Popolo/Cambiare rotta scesi in piazza oggi a Ravenna a difesa di un Venezuela che definiscono "socialista" dicono il falso alle masse. Non sono certo gli operai, i contadini poveri, i lavoratori al potere in Venezuela; e Trump lo ha bombardato non certo in quanto governo "socialista" ma perché è collocato nel "cortile di casa" degli Usa che vogliono il suo petrolio. E poi, se sono cresciute forze fasciste, reazionarie, golpiste, al suo interno è dipeso anche dalla politica di Maduro e dei governi come Maduro in America Latina. Spiace per questi, ma un'altra via è stata percorsa dall'esperienza delle masse contadine, proletarie e popolari dell'America Latina: la guerra di popolo diretta dai comunisti. Dire che Maduro è "socialista" significa, oltre che non dire il vero, contrastare le esperienze armate in America Latina e gettare fumo negli occhi delle masse per continuare la conciliazione con la propria borghesia e con gli imperialisti del proprio campo, che si liberano dei "maduro" per avere governi strettamente allineati all'imperialismo, Usa in questo caso.

La protesta a Cagliari 

Sono poco più di un centinaio i manifestanti che alle 18 si sono radunati sotto il Consiglio regionale per condannare l’attacco al Venezuela avvenuto nella notte da parte degli Stati Uniti. Al grido "Venezuela libera” attivisti, studenti, cittadini comuni e rappresentanti di associazioni  si sono mossi in un corteo, organizzato poche ore dopo la notizia dell’assalto Usa.

«Siamo qui perché è giusto che a Cagliari, come in altre città italiane, si sia riunita la gente che vuole vivere in un mondo dove la forza del diritto prevalga su quella brutale".

Trump ha dichiarato che “Gli Stati Uniti d’America hanno condotto con successo un attacco su larga scala contro il Venezuela e il suo leader, il presidente Nicolas Maduro, che è stato catturato e portato fuori dal Paese insieme alla moglie”. 

Caracas si è svegliata sotto le bombe dell’ennesima guerra statunitense. Almeno sette le esplosioni avvertite nella capitale venezuelana, ma attacchi sono avvenuti in tutto il paese. Colpita l’Accademia Militare di Mamo, a La Guaira, a 40 chilometri dalla capitale. Altre zone attaccate includono la base aerea La Carlota e l’aeroporto di Higuerote. bombardata anche la residenza del Ministro della Difesa Vladimir Padrino Lopez e secondo quanto riporta il Presidente della Colombia Gustavo Petro gli attacchi non hanno risparmiato il Parlamento di Caracas ed il mausoleo di Hugo Chávez. L’attacco hacoinvolto anche forze di terra ed elicotteri militari. 

In una nota, Maduro ha parlato di “gravissima aggressione militare Usa” in “siti civili e militari nella città di Caracas, capitale della Repubblica, e negli stati di Miranda, Aragua e La Guaira”. Sempre secondo la dichiarazione riportata da Tele Sur, “lo scopo dell’aggressione è l’appropriazione delle risorse strategiche del Venezuela… attivata l’immediata transizione alla lotta armata”.

L'operazione, da quanto si apprende dai media, sarebbe stata programmata da diverse settimane e rinviata a causa delle condizioni metereologiche. L’attacco è avvenuto al di fuori di ogni norma del diritto internazionale, con la scusa prima della “guerra al narcotraffico“, poi della presenza di Hezbollah ed Hamas in Venezuela.

Le crisi sociali interne agli Stati Uniti richiedono una politica estera che possa assicurare, almeno per qualche anno, la continuazione dell’egemonia statunitense attraverso il saccheggio materiale ed il disciplinamento politico di quelle che dalle parti della Casa Bianca sono considerate sin dal 1823 le periferie dell’Impero, e  soprattutto di quelle che detengono risorse critiche e possibilità di riarticolazione politica.”
