In the early morning hours of Friday, August 30, a suicide attack on a private education center in western Kabul killed nearly 70 students and injured about 100. Most of these victims were girls. According to eyewitnesses, the suicide bomber blew himself up in a classroom packed with 500 students. The shocking death toll and the violent and inhuman behavior of the Taliban toward the families of the victims created a sad and tragic scene of a humanitarian disaster in western Kabul.
It is not the first time that educational centers and public gatherings of Hazaras and Shiites in Kabul, Mazar-e-Sharif, Herat, Kandahar, etc., have been targeted by suicide attacks. During the past twenty years, under the domination of the occupying forces and the puppet regime, hospitals, schools, wedding salons, hotels, and city buses were often targeted by suicide attacks in these areas. But this time, the consequences of these horrific crimes provoked widespread anger and disgust against the Taliban, ISIS, and all Islamic fundamentalists and reactionaries. Female university students took to the streets in Kabul, Herat, Bamyan, and Balkh provinces to chant, "Stop Hazara genocide," and "Education is our right." Women's demonstrations were met with tear gas, shooting, and the arrest of protestors and journalists by the Taliban. Even though ISIS mostly takes responsibility for such crimes, the Taliban, as the ruling group, has been the main perpetrator and facilitator of such crimes in the past year.
The reactionary Shiite parties and nationalist elements are trying to take advantage of the situation and promote a strategy of pacifist civic resistance. Such reactionary politics in the circumstances that the Taliban are ruling the country with violence and the ISIS machine of killing is active is only going to serve the perpetuation of Taliban and ISIS rule.
We should oppose and expose this
reactionary, nationalist, religious-reformist, and capitulationist
politics. The unity of all toiling masses and nationalities of
Afghanistan is needed for the overthrow of the Taliban and smashing of
Taliban ideology.
The strategy of the Protracted People's War, under the leadership
of a vanguard Party, is the correct, scientific, and practical strategy
that can liberate the people of the country from the Taliban regime
and the domination of imperialism. There is no possibility of
overthrowing the Taliban regime and ending such tragedies without an
armed struggle and a strategy of protracted people's war. Getting rid
of the terror of Islamic fundamentalism, a product of the
capitalist-imperialist system, is only possible through new democratic
and socialist revolutions.
Down with Taliban and ISIS fundamentalists!
Long live the revolutionary unity of the people of Afghanistan!
Long live Marxism-Leninism-Maoism!
