(ATIK) and the Committee for Solidarity with the International Political Prisoners (UPOTUDAK) demand that Koufontinas to be brought back to Korrydallos Prison, where his family and lawyer lives.Dimitris Koufontinas, who is on the 50th day of his hunger strike (February 26), has also refused to take water since February 22, so if Koufontinas' demands are not immediately accepted, he will be the first political prisoner who dies on hunger strike / death fast since Bobby Sands.
Following the refusal of Koufontinas to take water, the prosecutor's office signed a decision allowing forced intervention against Dimitris Koufontinas on 23 February and legalized the intervention in hunger strikes and death fasts, which are accepted as torture all over the world. We know that the fascist-torturer forced intervention decision is not aimed at saving the life of Koufontinas. Because it is not difficult to save the life of Koufontinas; To be transferred to Korrydallos Prison, which is close to where his family lives!
Of course, the Greek government is not alone in this regard. Because all fascist and reactionary governments, which used the pandemic as an excuse, intensified the violation of rights in prisons, especially political prisoners, and condemned them to death by not taking measures against the pandemic. What the Greek government has done is no different. Since its coming to power, the New Democracy government has also followed these policies, and one of its first actions was to increase the repression in prisons, for example, to release the police officer who killed 15-year-old anarchist Alexis Grigoropolous.
